I had an opportunity recently to see Kronicles live. I have to say that they did not disappoint with their live show. That being the case I also decided to grab a copy of their CD, Reset. Again, Kronicles did not disappoint. Here is some video from the live concert.
Video of Kronicles – I am a Man
There are a lot of really good elements to this CD and it’s mixed very well. It’s a solid alternative rock album with plenty of energy and emotion. Switch kicks things off with a hard edge to both the music and the vocals. My Dear comes across very heavy with an intense bassline that I really love. And I am A Man comes down like a hammer with great guitar work and thundering percussion. Silent has an ethereal feel from strings and keys before breaking into Last Time. Rediscover and Miracles are both ballads that round out the overall intensity of the CD.
The only thing I didn’t like about the CD was the way so many of the songs seemed to have the same sound to them. Not that they all sound the same but that the techniques used in each song lend to a sense of commonality among them. They “feel” the same and you might not notice that you’re listening to the next track until you’ve reached the end.
In any event, Reset by Kronicles is worth picking up. You may not listen to it until you’ve worn it out, but you’ll like throwing it on to give it a listen every so often.
I give it 3 and a half stars.
