Twitter Tryouts

Many of you who are reading this may not know what Twitter is or perhaps you know what it is but like many of you you find it be a waste of your time. I thought this as well when I first started twittering.

I think this no longer.

I have found I really enjoy twitter and once you sort through all the people just trying to boost their numbers or those SEO bots trying to sell you something and get your precious clicks (that are quickly diminishing in value) you end up with a rather interesting community that at times can really reach out across the country/world. With all that said you may be wondering why I am calling this entry ‘Twitter Tryouts’.

Well the idea is that I believe that I can only pay attention to so many people. The Twitter app I use (twhirl) allows me to see the posting of everyone that I am following. As I find more and more people that I think are interesting enough to follow. As so I end up following them and seeing if how they add to my daily twitter experience. If I find them interesting, entertaining, or informative I end up keeping them.

However if (as all to often is the case) I end up with a window full of boring, useless tweets with little or no entertainment value, or with nothing but urls leading me to some shop or advertisement, well the unfollow button is only a click away. Now you may think that by saying that Im going to upset all my twitter peeps for the links they throw up on twitter, but as they all know there is a big difference in pimping something worthwhile and pimping everything on the internet.

You may be wondering why I am telling you all of this, well partly because I am trying to clear it all up in my mind and partly because I hope you will be inspired to check it out for yourself. Twitter can be a pain, but it can also be fun and just a little addictive. I am hoping that by writing this I can help you enjoy twitter just a little bit more.
