One of the greatest perks of doing this podcast and running the website www.jtindie.com (Aside from getting to meet so many talented artist) is getting music before it is released to the public and getting to review it for all of you. So when I Got the chance to review “Dear Children” from the band Yours For Mine I was very excited. I must apologize to all of you, I got the music a while ago and the holidays as well as the End of the First Season of the podcast as well as planning for the Second Season intruded. However here is my Review for the CD “Dear Children” that drops on January 13th. You can pick up the CD at http://bloodandink.storenvy.com/

From the very Beginning of this CD I was Fooled. It starts out with an almost pop / Industrial sound with the first song “We Need You Here” However the Hard rocking nature of the CD is evident by the first chords of the next song. With a great mix of talents and Musical Styles, this CD is a great compliment to anyones CD collection

One of my biggest problems I have with the harder Rock CDs is my inability to understand what is being said in the song. This however was not the case for this CD. They mixed talented vocals with Screaming that acted more like accent and punctuation than anything else. On a more technical note it is easy to see that this band is group of serious and talented musicians. As I listen to the music itself I can hear all the instruments clearly, a sure sign of a skillful production. Also I kept finding little things that, no doubt, are the reason why enjoyed the CD as much as I have. Whether it is the use of spoken word, panning, or something else, it seems I find something in each song to enjoy. The title song “Dear Children” offers up a wonderful minute and a half of psychedelic music and spoken word that ties much of the album together.

Even though the use of screaming was very well done, I did find an entire CD of the Hardcore Screaming a bit much for my personal tastes. However this is a very minor problem and less a problem with the CD as it is just a comment on my preferences of style. Inspite of my well know style I find that “Dear Children” an accomplished album and if your style trends toward screaming guitars and thoughtful lyrics you will find this CD a deserving addition to your collection.

My overall thoughts are that this is a well balanced album that brings together that many separate aspects of talent, style, and production to produce a wonderfully rocking CD. Add to that the skillful use of “the interlude” as with the whispering followed by the scream in “Native Tongue”

I am rating this CD at 4 out of 5 stars as I am sure that you will be hearing more from Yours and Mine in the future, Both on the Podcast here at www.jtindie.com but from listening to the CD I can only imagine what kind of live show this band must put on. Be sure to check them out on their Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/yoursformine and pick up the CD when it comes out on January 13th at http://bloodandink.storenvy.com/
