News – Vertical Fest Part 2
Vertical Fest was yesterday out near Shipensburg PA, A Christian Music Festival that is Held each year. This is the first time I Got to attend and really I could condense this whole article down to two words. “Freaking Awesome!!”. I got to meet pretty much all of the bands and between the Photos and Posters I got signed it will be a while before I can afford to get them all framed.
One of the Best shows of the day was put on by Children 18:3. This punk group really showed the rest of the bands just how to put on a show. The Picture above is Children 18:3 and if you don’t know them be sure to check them out, and you can expect to hear them on the podcast. I got to meet them and talked to David (Lead Singer, Guitarist) and Got permission to play Their music so you be sure that you will be hearing them on JTICMP.
One of the more intense items was the Speaker Justin Lookadoo, as the speaker he spoke and one of the things he said was when he spoke about love, he asked us all do you love people? not do you say you love people but do you Inconvience yourself in order to love others. Perhaps the most shocking thing he said was this. “If you want to love others then Don’t go the homeless shelter and help on Christmas or thanksgiving. That isnt loving, Go every tuesday the rest of the year.” He also said “You want to love people then dont picket out front of the abortion clinic, love the girls that come out the back door.” One of these is loving, the other is making yourself feel good.
Finally he he gave everyone a choice, to go back and be prayed for, he didnt care if you wanted to dedicate your life to Christ or if you wanted to Re-dedicate your life. The thing he did say (and I find this to be awesome) that when you back there those who would be praying for you were going to ask you what you were there to be prayed for, specifically since as the Bible says “Confess your sings one to another and you will be healed” He also told all of us, “You may be with someone who needs this prayer, it is up to you to grab them and take them there, it is up to you to take a stand.”
Aside from all the bands I did get to meet the owner/operator of a clothing line called Raensem. Now they will be having a launch of their website in the middle of October. You can be sure that you will be seeing more of them as I have kind of taken them on as my personal apparel shop. I picked up one shirt from them and will be ordering more as well as putting them up on the site when their site goes online.
The Night Ended with concerts by Fireflight, Red, and Family Force 5. Each of these bands proved why they are the headliners. Each of them rocked and while the night went on long, Not ending until midnight it was well worth it and I am already looking forward to next years Festival Season.
